Medical cannabis access and corporate restructuring lead today’s developments, as Georgia advances a delivery framework and AYR Wellness continues transferring assets to a creditor-backed operator. In entertainment, Disney is extending the reach of selected franchises and current series through a significant licensing agreement with Netflix.
Georgia Advances Medical Cannabis Home Delivery
The Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission unanimously voted to advance rules allowing licensed operators to deliver medical cannabis to registered patients, caregivers and certain healthcare facilities. The framework contemplates delivery through the U.S. Postal Service or participating private carriers, although final administrative review remains pending.
Operators would be required to verify recipients and track packages through delivery. Industry participants said service could begin by the end of October following the remaining state review and implementation process.
Why It Matters: Analysis: Delivery could materially expand the addressable market for Georgia operators by reaching rural patients, people unable to travel and residents of long-term care facilities. The involvement of national carriers would also represent a notable test of how state medical cannabis commerce interacts with federal transportation and mailing rules.

AYR Wellness Transfers Ohio Operations to Creditor-Backed Buyer
AYR Wellness completed the first transfer of certain Ohio operations to subsidiaries of Arboretum Bidco, the acquisition vehicle established by the cannabis company’s senior secured noteholders. AYR said it received the required state regulatory approvals before closing the transaction.
Arboretum intends to operate under the Ayr Wellness name. The company previously transferred its Virginia, Florida, New Jersey and Nevada operations to the same buyer as part of its broader restructuring.
Why It Matters: Analysis: The Ohio closing moves AYR’s creditor-led restructuring another step toward completion and further separates its operating assets from the existing corporate parent. Remaining asset transfers and the parent company’s planned wind-down will determine the final structure and geographic footprint of the successor business.

Disney Licenses Major Film and Television Titles to Netflix
Disney agreed to license a slate of movies and television series to Netflix on a nonexclusive basis, including the first two seasons of the Disney+ series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” the five existing “Ice Age” films and ABC’s “Will Trent.”
The “Percy Jackson” seasons and “Ice Age” movies will receive three-month global windows on Netflix, while selected Disney and Pixar films, including “Soul,” “Elio” and “Raya and the Last Dragon,” are scheduled to arrive in various markets beginning in 2027. Disney’s core branded content will otherwise largely remain on its own platforms and channels.
Why It Matters: Analysis: The agreement illustrates how major media companies are again using third-party licensing to generate revenue, promote franchises and reach audiences beyond their proprietary streaming services. It also strengthens Netflix’s position as a distribution platform for programming owned by its direct competitors.
